Taxicab Driver's License
The Police Department issues taxicab licenses for cab drivers to drive in Fairfield only, as per Public Safety Ordinance, Article 5. Persons wishing to obtain a taxicab license will fill out a taxicab license application at the Police Department. At that time, the Police Department will collect the fee and will then run a criminal background check and a driving record and review those reports to see if the applicant qualifies for the license. To see if you qualify for a taxicab license in the Town of Fairfield, see the Taxicab License Application below.

The fee for a new taxicab license is $36.00. The license expiration date is May 1 each year. The renewal fee on May 1st each year is $26.00. Please note that these fees are non-refundable due to the fact that the Town pays for the supplies needed to issue the license, as well as the criminal background charges imposed by the State of Maine.
Please note that if you do not come in to the Police Department for a renewal license by the last week in April, your license will expire on May 1 and you will not be authorized to drive in Fairfield until your license is renewed.
Taxicab Business License
Taxicab business owners must obtain an annual business license from the Police Department. The application is available online or at the Police Department.
