Who do I contact concerning water and sewerage service and/or problems with my service?
For issues with your water service or to start up your water service, you will need to contact the Kennebec Water District at 872-2763.
For issues with your sewer service, you should contact the Public Works Department at 453-6551. If there is no answer, or if it is after regular business hours, please call the non-emergency Police Department phone number at 453-9321.
What is the winter parking ban and when does it start?
No vehicle shall be parked on any street or way of the Town from November 1 to March 31 of the following year, between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Any vehicle so parked may be removed or caused to be moved within the scope of the towing guidelines of the Town of Fairfield.
How do I find cemetery information?
Fairfield Public Works: (PublicWorks@FairfieldMe.com) maintains records for public cemeteries: Maplewood Cemetery and Tozier Cemetery only.
The municipality maintains veteran graves in all cemeteries that the Town has been made aware of, in accordance with law. Cemetery Locations (click here). Memorial Day flag placement is facilitated by the Grover Hinckley American Legion Post 14 Auxiliary and can be reached at 453-2567.
Ellis Cemetery, Good Will Cemetery, Nye's Corner Cemetery, Friends Cemetery, Covell Cemetery, Gage Cemetery, Bates Cemetery, Brooks Cemetery and Emery Hill Cemetery are privately owned cemeteries; access and records are not held or provided by the municipality.

When is the next spring clean up scheduled?
The Town offers an Annual Spring Clean-up day during the month of May, during the week advertised by the Town. Residents may leave items curbside and the Public Works Department will pick it up and dispose of it for you. Some items require a fee and stickers can be purchased at the Town Office. Spring Clean-up dates are advertised in the local Morning Sentinel newspaper, and flyers will be available at the Town Office beginning in April with specific information on the clean-up.
Does Public Works pickup leaves?
No. We have an annual spring clean up in the spring and you may drop your leaves off at the Green Road Brush Dump. Brush and leaves only may be taken to the Green Road Dump the second week of May. NO BUILDING MATERIALS ALLOWED. How do I dispose of hazardous materials I have around my home?
Once a year, Fairfield participates in the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day that is organized by the Kennebec Valley Council of Governments. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is generally held on a Saturday, mid to late October. Information concerning the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is posted on our website under news & announcements.
How do I dispose of latex paint?
Latex paint cans will not be accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day. You will need to open the can and let the paint dry out. To speed the process, add kitty litter to the paint. This may take awhile, depending on the amount of paint. Once the paint is completely dry it can be disposed of in your regular trash.
How do I dispose of aerosol cans?
If you empty all of the contents in the aerosol can, it can be placed in your regular trash. If you cannot empty the container, you will need to wait and dispose of it at the next Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day (generally in October).
What do I do with alkaline batteries?
Flash light batteries, AA, AAA, C & D types are what are referred to as alkaline batteries. These batteries can be disposed of in your regular trash and will not be accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day.
What are rechargeable batteries and how do I dispose of them?
These batteries are the types of batteries that power rechargeable toys and hand tools. They are also found in some small appliances such as hand held vacuum cleaners. These batteries also include "button cells" that power wrist watches and laser pointers. These batteries should be disposed of at the next Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day (generally in October).
How do I dispose of an item with freon in it?
Smorgon Steel Recycling located at 25 Ayer Street in Oakland will accept and dispose of refrigerators and freezers year round for a fee of $12.00. They will accept and dispose of air conditioners year round for a fee of $15.00. Stoves, washing machines and dryers are also accepted and disposed of at no charge. Their phone number is 465-2212.
