Enforced Municipal Policies
SEAT BELTS:
It is the law in Maine that drivers and passengers must wear seatbelts. Children age 8 and under or 80 pounds and under must use a booster seat.
NOISE POLICY:
The law in Fairfield prohibits loud, offensive noises. These types of noises are defined as ones that annoy, disturb, injure or endanger the comfort, repose, health, peace or safety of others. Night-time hours are the hours between 9:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Sunday evening through Saturday morning, and the hours between 9:30 p.m. Saturday evening and 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Complaints regarding excessive noise should be reported to the local Police Department at 453-9321.
TOWN LANDING PARKING:
We have two boat landings in Town. One is the Fairfield Boat Landing which is located off the Community Center Parking Lot on Water Street, and the other one is the Hinckley Boat Landing which is located off Route 23 in Hinckley Village. There are no parking restrictions at the boat landings, except that a person may not park in a Municipal Parking Lot for more than twenty-four (24) hours at any one time.
WINTER PARKING BAN:
No vehicle shall be parked on any street or way of the Town from November 1 to March 31 of the following year, between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Any vehicle so parked may be removed or caused to be moved within the scope of the towing guidelines of the Town of Fairfield.
