Licenses & Permits
Under municipal home rule authority (Maine Constitution, Article VIII, Part 2, Section 1; 30-A M.R.S.A. 3001), cities and towns are legally authorized to adopt rules and regulations affecting a potentially infinite number of activities provided that no state or federal law expressly or implicitly preempts municipal regulation in any particular area. The Town may grant a license or permit to an applicant provided that the standards in the town ordinances are met.
