"Adopt a Spot"
All over Fairfield we can see our town continuously growing and evolving. For family, business, and community, the landscape of Fairfield is ever changing to accommodate our needs as a whole. Amongst all of this, is there a special place that brings you comfort? A spot of green you enjoy visiting to reflect, reconnect, and share with others? Would you like to create a place of peace and health for yourself and your community?
The Town of Fairfield is encouraging you to "Adopt a Spot" in our lovely town. This is an ongoing opportunity to get involved and give back to the land. Whether you would like to tidy up an area, plant a flower bed, spruce up your storefront, or start a community garden, there's lots to do to help maintain and grow Fairfield's beauty. This can be accomplished at little or no cost to you; all that's needed is some sweat equity and enthusiasm.
Here are some examples of spots to adopt:
- Plant a tree, shrub, or flowers at Mill Island Park
- Plant a small flower garden at Veterans Memorial Park
- Place flower pots, prune flower beds and green spaces, or tidy a sidewalk in the Downtown
- Maintain common green spaces or corners in the villages and rural areas
Flowers, trees, and shrubs are purchased annually by the Town of Fairfield and folks may sign up to help plant these in public areas. If you would like to network with other like-minded neighbors or get some additional information and ideas, you may contact Cathy Hebert by email at sunsetgreenhouses@roadrunner.com or the Office of Community Development.
