The Town of Fairfield, known to many as the "Sleeping Giant" due to its enormous commercial potential and continual growth, is located in southern Somerset County. It adjoins Skowhegan to the North and Waterville to the South. The town is bound on the East by the Kennebec River. Conveniently running within the town are U.S. 201 and I-95. Fairfield contains a large commercial and residential urban area, which merges with Waterville's on the South, and three small commercial villages, Hinckley, Shawmut and Fairfield Center. The area of the Town comprises 54 square miles, and has been gaining population at a rate of 1 percent per year for over 20 years.

With a local community college and schooling grades K-12, many families find Fairfield an ideal town to reside.
